I packed ONE box...............EEK!!

What a lovely day today! That might sound odd considering today is a Monday, but I have had some wonderful people around me as well as reach out to me.

One of the few things that were not so swell today was hearing the news of a dear friend and colleague of mine was laid off from the Bank. Being that I've been in that exact same position from that exact same corporation, I understand her worry as well as realize my blessings. Although she will enjoy a nice paid (severance paid) holiday with her family, it is never fun to have to start all over again.

On a much lighter note- My darling office mates surprised me with a cake for my birthday today, even though my birthday is on Wednesday. Reason being is so that the consultants that only come on Mondays and Thursdays could take part in the festivities. They also dooped me into choosing my exact type of cake and where to order it from by previously asking me where and what I thought they should get for the holiday party. I had no idea. The cake was darling with a Hello Kitty on it and in Mardi Gras colors for the roots I have in Da Boot! Too Cute!! And it was from Lucy's which is my favorite! (Anyone that lives in the Austin area MUST try Lucy's Cakes for your next event. They are a deliciously wonderful treat!)

I also have been anticipating snow for today even though my co-workers are persistently bursting my bubble. But to no avail, I just walked outside to find ICE EVERYWHERE!!! Not snow, but starting in the right direction I'd say!
