A Sunday Adventure

Sunday, Paul and I went downtown to rent some kayaks on Town Lake. For only $25 a day, you can get a single (they even have doubles, triples, and canoes) kayak and head out across the beautiful damned up (that just sounds silly) Colorado River which makes one of Austin's three lakes - Town Lake.
Town Lake has since been renamed "Lady Bird Lake" after Lady Bird Johnson, but with no offense to her- We sill call it just plain ol' TOWN LAKE. It runs along the south part of down town Austin and crosses directly under South 1st street and Congress Ave. The state capitol is only 9 blocks up on Congress Ave. and actually runs directly to its front steps.
We got our kayaks around noon and enjoyed paddling a good 6 miles around the "lake". It was absolutely gorgeous and we had a BLAST! I dumped my kayak over not once, but THREE times. I screamed like a little girl as Paul laughed uncontrollably. Right when I finally got back in and balanced myself, a fish floated by belly up. NOT COOL.
Paul was determined to jump off one of the bridges since he had just seen about 15 kids do it. I helped him up, and right when he jumped, I slipped on a slab and busted my knee and we were reprimanded by a bicycle cop. Instant Karma? I think so. (Or possibly just a sign that we are way to old to be doing things we just saw 15 kids do)
