Fredericksburg, Texas. A friendly little drinking town with a tourist problem. The unofficial slogan of this quaint German town is all too perfect. Paul and I decided to get out of town for Memorial Day this year and with Fredericksburg about an hour and half away, we couldn't resist.
We stayed at the cutest little Bed & Breakfast called The Ainsley House and it was a block from Main Street. We enjoyed a crawfish festival with some boudin and Zydeco. We had authentic German food (the schinken schnitzel to be exact!) and relaxed in the 1930's home by ourselves.
Sunday our friends Jessica and Andy came in and got a hotel to join the fun. We did wine tasting, shopping, ice cream, and a 60 oz. rita with some more German food. We took the long hike (8 miles) to Luckenbach for a festival that we discovered ended before we arrived. The normal population of Luckenbach is 3, and there had to be a whopping 30 people there.
Sunday evening we did a little swimming and some board games back at the B&B. It was such a great time and we were not ready to leave Monday morning. On the way back to Austin we stopped with Jess and Andy at a wildflower farm and walked around in 199* weather! (At least it seemed).
All in all, fantastic weekend. Now Paul is back to New York for a week before we drive to New Mexico for a friends wedding!

Another weekend down
So it's Sunday evening (we overslept church service) and we're doing the usual: Cleaning, Yard work, always a trip to Lowe's and a good dinner before our "shows" come on. Every time we talk about Sunday evenings and our "shows" it makes me think of MawMaws that would watch their "stories" during the day time. Of course these "stories" were all the horrible Soaps that came on Monday - Friday.
Same difference.
For the first time in a while I'll be leaving tomorrow morning and Paul will be the one at home alone. I head out to Chicago for work Monday AM and don't come home until around midnight Tuesday night. Let's hope I don't get a phone call. :)

Run Down on three! - 1, 2, BREAK!!!

Boy oh boy here we go-

Took a trip to Las Vegas in July for our One Year Anniversary. Stayed for a week and drove out to Los Angeles where we stayed in Beverly Hills at Maison 140. Spent a day in Santa Monica at the pier eating fish tacos with Cervesa. Drove back to Vegas that night to meet our best friends from Houston, The Schillers. Anniversary on the 27th, and a tragic phone call on the 28th summed up the rest of our trip. The phone call was that of a LAY OFF for Paul- via the phone, the day after our anniversary, IN LAS VEGAS. (The last place on earth you want to find out you were laid off)
Fast forward a through our trip home, Paul's low key birthday, and a month of Mr. Daniels going loco- He was offered a job with Martin Marine out of La Porte, TX. So, back to the grind, and thanking the Lord! We will just have to put up with the "unimaginable" hitch he has- 4 weeks on, 2 weeks off. That separates us for 8 months out of the year, not counting the time I'm at my job while he is home. Aaahhhh.... the joys of living. :)
So, it looks like our summer has come to an end- It was definitely a wonderful and memorable few months, but now it's time for football season, birthday parties, and decorating OUR HOME for the very first time during Christmas. We are so blessed, even with all the hoops and bumps- God is good.
