"Houston, we have a problem"

Paul was supposed to fly home on the 10th before noon and we had concrete plans to head to Houston for the 3day weekend. When the "Blizzard of 2010" (which I find hilarious considering that there could very well be another storm as sever or worse in the remaining 10 months that would have to live in this storm's name's shadow) had Paul stuck in NYC for an indefinite number of days, we were a little concerned to say the least. Luckily he was able to catch a flight out of Newark that had him landing the next night, arriving in Austin Thursday.

Friday we packed up the bags and headed home to see our dear friends the Hemphills' new baby boy Joshua. We had gone down for the birth, but with him being in NICU, we were not able to actually hold him and "meet" him per say. So we hit the road and arrived in the 4th largest US city that evening. We stayed with the Schillers and Saturday we got up to head to Pearland. We met Stephen, Amanda and baby Joshua for lunch before heading back to their house. Joshua is one of the BEST babies I've ever, ever, ever met. I have never seen a 2.5 month old sleep through the things this boy sleeps through and remain as happy as he does. I think in the 3 days we were there we only heard him cry a few times and it was only him letting us know he was hungry. He is so precious and strong!!

Saturday night we got a babysitter and all headed out to dinner at the Aquarium on the Kemah Boardwalk. It was such a blast! We ate some wonderful seafood and just enjoyed each others company. It had been a while since the 6 of us had spent time like that together.

Sunday, Valentines Day was the best. The boys; Paul, Stephen and Eric all got up to go golfing, while Susan, Amanda and I drove to the Galleria to Massage Heights for massages! OH MAN!! The one hour, hot stone massage with aromatherapy that each of us had was UH-MAZE-ING. We were not ready to leave, but we were starving so we had to. We went to a wonderful sushi place on Westheimer Blvd and ate lunch.
Paul and I had reservations that night at Hotel Derek in the Galleria and I wanted to decorate the room and fill the fridge with chocolate covered strawberries and all of his favorite snacks. The girls were nice enough to help me on what turned out to be a wild goose chase to Mexico and back to get the confetti, rose petals, strawberries, etc. They also helped me put everything in the room and get it set up with out Paul knowing a thing!! Thanks again ladies, I owe ya big time!!

Sunday night started to go off with out a hitch. Paul was tired and so was I, so we headed to the hotel with plans of ordering in. We ordered Maggiano's Take Out and had an amazing dinner right there in the hotel room.......... This is also where the problems began......... I thought before dinner that my "off" feeling was just from being tired, but before bedtime on Sunday I had a raging fever and the WORST body aches ever. I was so miserable but finally fell asleep somehow. Monday we got up with a late check out and I managed to pull myself together (With the help of 4 ibuprofen and a Sudefed). We hit the road home with only a quick stop at Cane's for lunch. Unfortunately, just like Sunday I started feeling worse by night fall and my cough was sounding something like a '89 Cutlass with no exhaust pipe. Needless to say, I had to stay home Tuesday and was in bed all day. Thankfully Paul bought me the SATC box set and I watched Seasons 1-2 in their entirety. My brother Chuck made some amazing Chicken soup from scratch and between that and the copious amounts of Thera-flu I've felt a little better today.

So, all in all......... A great weekend with a bummer ending. But isn't the end to anything great a bummer?
